Uses of Glass Coated Manjha for Flying Kites May Lead to 5 Years Imprisonment and Fine up to 1 Lakh


The use of Chinese Manjha has become fatal for birds, animals, and humans nowadays. 30 years old Sumit Ranga, a resident of Rohini Delhi died.


His throat was slit by a Chinese Manjha (kite string) while he was passing through Haiderdarpur Flyover on his motorcycle yesterday. Immediately he was rushed to a nearby Saroj Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.


Chinese Manjha is one type of thread used for flying kites. As coating of glass used on the thread during the manufacturing process may cause injury to any extent. According to official sources of law enforcement agencies, the Use of glass-coated Manjha has been banned by Delhi Government since 2017 and is punishable under the provisions of law.


It can lead to 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to 1 lakh rupees. Uses of glass-coated Manjha for flying kites are still going on.
