The United States yesterday formalized a contribution of $639,015 to the Organization of American States (OAS) Cybercrime Program, a training and technical assistance initiative carried out in accordance with the mandates of the Meetings of the Ministers of Justice or Other Ministers or Attorneys General of the Americas (REMJA).
The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs supports this program to train judges, law enforcement, and prosecutors on investigative and prosecutorial techniques, the admissibility of electronic and digital evidence, and legislative drafting, as well as techniques for legal cooperation across borders.
The United States’ contribution, the third since 2015, signifies continued support for the invaluable work of the OAS to combat cybercrime and transnational crime. This partnership between the United States and the OAS demonstrates our shared regional commitment to protecting citizens and businesses from cybercrime across the Western Hemisphere.
