On behalf of the United States government, I congratulate the people of Trinidad and Tobago on 57 years of independence.
Trinidad and Tobago is a key partner in advancing the security and prosperity of the Caribbean region. The United States particularly thanks the government and people of Trinidad and Tobago for helping to mitigate the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela as we continue to support multilateral efforts to achieve a peaceful restoration of democracy there. We look forward to working with Trinidad and Tobago to further strengthen regional law enforcement capabilities, as well as disaster response readiness under the auspices of the U.S.-Caribbean Resilience Partnership.
