Deputy Secretary Sullivan’s Meeting With Colombian Foreign Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo

On September 4, Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan met in Bogota, Colombia with Colombian Foreign Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo. The leaders discussed the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.  The Deputy Secretary expressed gratitude for Colombia’s continued leadership in supporting a peaceful resolution to the crisis in Venezuela and sustained generosity in hosting those Venezuelans who have fled the country.  Deputy Secretary Sullivan and Foreign Minister Trujillo also discussed recent progress in combatting narcotics trafficking and the need to do more to meet the shared goal of reducing coca cultivation and cocaine production. The Deputy Secretary reaffirmed the United States’ strong support for Colombia’s efforts to secure a just and lasting peace.
