45 members' constitutional committee announced by UN Special Envoy for Syria. This committee will draft a new constitution for the conflict turn country. Members of the committee are meeting the first time in 9 months. General Secretary of UN Special Envoy for Syria Mr. Geir Pedersen told the Security Council that convening the UN-facilitated, Syrian-led meeting in Geneva has been challenging, because of disagreement on an agenda until March and then because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Mr.Geir Pederson, drafting of a new constitution has been already delayed for over 2 ½ years.
