On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I congratulate The Honorable François-Philippe Champagne on his appointment as Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. I look forward to working together as partners and allies on the international stage to advance issues of mutual importance and to sustaining the United States-Canada relationship, one of the closest and most extensive bilateral relationships in the world. I also congratulate The Honorable Chrystia Freeland on her appointment as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs in the Canadian government’s new cabinet and thank her for her unwavering dedication to the U.S.-Canada relationship and for the integral role she continues to play as we work towards the ratification of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement.
